32 Weeks

How far along? 32 weeks and 2 days (well, technically 32 weeks and 3 days since I wrote this yesterday but forgot to post it!).  I’ll be going out on maternity leave after February 28th, which is just a little over six weeks from now!
Total Weight Gain: 31.2 pounds, so my weight is up about 0.8 lbs from last week.
Maternity clothes? I ordered a pair of grey canvas Toms shoes in a half-size up that have basically become my “maternity shoes” – so comfortable!   And my daily work outfits essentially just consist of a maternity maxi skirt paired with a cotton maternity shirt, and a long open cardigan if it’s below 60 degrees (it’s become my weekday uniform!).
Stretch marks? Not on my belly.  Still using the Palmer’s cocoa butter each night.
Sleep: I consider it a good night if I only need to get up twice to pee.  I have slept a little better the past week, though there is always at least one night a week where I feel like I sleep in thirty minutes shifts and just wake constantly either needing to go pee, switch positions, or even go to the fridge and get a small bite of something to eat.  But this week has been better than last so far.
Best moment this week: The Patriots beating the Colts this past Saturday night!  They play the Broncos (yikes) in the AFC championship this weekend.  I love football weekends.  It would be even better if it was actually cold here in Texas – it’s hard to feel like “snuggling up” to watch a game if it’s 75 and sunny outside!  We have also been trying to get baby’s stuff organized and figure out what really crucial items we still need, but it feels good to do a little bit of nesting.  I have had a few moments of really freaking out about just how much stuff in terms of baby gear and nursery-related items that we still need – we have more baby clothes than we will likely ever use at this point, but we still don’t have a number of critical things, like a baby carrier, bouncer, stroller, and on and on.  But I know we will likely receive quite a few things as gifts, so I need to just relax!  I am just the type that likes to have everything ready, so it’s not surprising that I’m anxious already.  J
Miss anything? Nothing in terms of food or drink this week.
Movement: What a mover this girl is!  She nudges and rolls and pushes and swipes all the time.  She seems to be the most active around mid-morning, early evening, and then again right before I go to bed.  Last night, Justin got to feel some really huge, dramatic movements – it even freaked him out just a little how strong her pushes and nudges really are now!
Food Cravings: Dairy has been tasting really good lately, especially cold milk, ice cream, and yogurt.  I have also been very thirsty the past couple of weeks, so I love big glasses of ice water.  Unfortunately, I am usually the most thirsty in the evening, which does not help in terms of cutting down on nighttime bathroom runs!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing really.
Have you started to show yet? So now I guess I’m entering that stage where people feel they can make comments like, “Are you sure you’re going to make it to your due date?”  This is such an asinine question. I feel like saying, “Well, I asked my daughter the same question and she doesn’t seem to respond” or “The baby tells me that she’s coming early on February 28th or bust.”  Come on folks.  This ranks right up there with comments like, “You look further along that that!”  I’m shocked at some of things that actually come out of people’s mouths sometimes.  There are certain comments that are only acceptable when coming from loved ones.  For example, when I try on a new shirt and my husband tells me that it’s the biggest I’ve ever looked, I laugh – because I know it comes from a good place and he could seriously care less how much weight I gain or how enormous I look as long as me and baby are healthy.  However, when I overhear my boss telling a client that I look “much more pronounced” then I can almost feel the steam coming out of my ears.
Labor signs: Nope.
Symptoms: Some occasional heartburn, shockingly frequent urination, and less comfortable sleep (and feeling just bigger and slower and more tired in general).
Belly button in or out? It’s coming out!  It’s pretty funny looking right now.
Wedding rings on or off? On, though they get a little snug when I’m hot or after longer walks.
Mood: I am so happy about baby, and so grateful for what I would consider a relatively easy pregnancy.  However, it has not been a good week.  Last Tuesday, my boss terminated two of my colleagues, and in an already small office and with two incredible, wonderful women, it is a loss that is bigger than big.  Luckily for me, I know I will still see them and we are in contact all the time.  But from a purely selfish perspective, this has meant that my workload has more than doubled, and that is really not good for someone in her third trimester who can’t skip lunch or drink extra lattes to get through the day.  It’s not pleasant at all.  The one good thing has been that I have the great support of our wonderful college intern, whose help and companionship has been invaluable.  For now, I’m just trying to take it one day at a time.  But I miss them every day!
Looking forward to: Getting baby’s stuff more organized and put away and ready for her arrival in March! I’m also looking forward to enjoying these last weeks with Justin before baby is born and our life gets completely turned upside down!  It’s crazy to think that our life will literally never be the same again.  I am so excited for this next phase of our lives, but also very appreciative of what we have now with just us (and our two little dogs of course).  I want to be sure that we really value this time together before our sweet girl joins our family in less than two months!
Midwife Appointment Update: I don’t have my next appointment until next week, but I can’t remember if I ever mentioned that I did pass my gestational diabetes screening test – the midwife told me that you need to be under 130, and I was 80-something, so that’s very good.
News: Justin's mom, Pam, is throwing us a baby shower!  It's going to be earlier in the day on Superbowl Sunday, and we're so pleased.  More details to come.
