How far along? 39 weeks and 3 days.
Total Weight Gain: My weight stayed the same this week, so total gain is still 35.2 pounds.
Maternity clothes? Of course. Though the only thing I have felt comfortable in this week is oversized t-shirts and pajama pants!
Stretch marks? Still none.
Sleep: I’m sleeping pretty well, thanks to the fact that I can stay up a little later and then sleep until 9 or 10 in the morning. I get up 3-4 times a night to pee, but generally fall asleep pretty easily. Not having to wake up for work in the morning has definitely taken some of the stress out of sleeping, since I don’t have to worry about being exhausted the next day if I can’t fall asleep right away or get up more than usual at night. Sleeping still isn’t very comfortable though with such a big belly, and rolling over or getting up is almost comical!
Best moment this week: Being on maternity leave and having some time to relax and get organized before baby arrives has been great. Justin has also done so much of the deep cleaning that I really wanted to get done – that way he doesn’t have to worry about me slipping and falling or exposing myself to harsh chemicals (I really lucked out here!) – and he’s done such a great job and been so patient with me. Tonight, even though our anniversary isn’t until March 10th, we’re going to go out for a nice dinner to celebrate early and make sure we get it in before baby!
Miss anything? Being able to lay down comfortably and move without such effort! I am feeling very big and slow this week.
Movement: She still moves quite a bit (usually big back stretches or foot pokes), and gets the hiccups at least once a day (and sometimes as often as three times a day!). We might start calling her Baby Hiccups. J
Food Cravings: Milk, ice cream, smoothies, and mini cupcakes (don’t ask!).
Anything making you queasy or sick: Meat fat, Chinese food, and sometimes just meat in general.
Labor signs: Unfortunately nothing yet, but hopefully soon!
Symptoms: I have to pee all the time, and I’m getting very uncomfortable. My belly is very heavy, and I can’t stay in any one position for too long. I usually have to sleep with my mouth open because if I only breathe through my nose, I feel like I’m not getting enough air (I think my uterus is really crowding out my lungs!). I have increased pelvic pressure, but no labor signs yet. I also get pretty tired during the day, even if I sleep relatively well the night before. And I have terrible “pregnancy brain” – we watched Jeopardy last night and my answers were ridiculous! But nothing horribly painful or intolerable, so I guess I’m still pretty lucky!
Belly button in or out? Out, and a little puffier in the center. It’s not very pretty!
Wedding rings on or off? Still keeping them off to be safe.
Mood: I’m very excited to meet our baby! I can’t wait to see what she looks like, and how big she is, and how much hair she has, and to count her little fingers and toes! Sometimes I feel like this is all a big dream, and can’t believe how fortunate we are to be so close to welcoming our daughter and holding her in our arms. Then of course the side effect of all of this excitement and anticipation is that I seem to get more impatient with each passing day! That, plus the inevitable late pregnancy hormones, has made me a bit more emotional and moody this week, but I’m trying to stay busy and positive until she comes!
Looking forward to: I’m looking forward to a lovely early anniversary dinner tonight, and then to whenever our baby decides to make her entrance! Mommy and Daddy can’t wait to meet you, so come soon, baby girl!
Midwife’s Appointment Update: We saw the midwife (Erin) last Friday. Everything was great – baby’s heart rate was nice and strong and she was very active. Unless I go into labor before then, my next appointment won’t be until Monday the 10th!
