38 Weeks

(But for consistency I will include this week's real fruit as well, which is of course....a pumpkin!)
How far along? 38 weeks and 2 days.
Total Weight Gain: I actually forgot to weigh myself this morning.  I guess I was too excited about this being my last day of work!  I will weigh myself tomorrow morning and add it in.
My total weight gain is now 35.2 pounds (down 0.2 lbs since last week).
Maternity clothes? Of course, and I better have this baby soon since most of my warmer weather maternity clothes are too snug to even wear!
Stretch marks? None on this belly!
Sleep: I usually alternate nights of really restless sleep with nights of pretty good sleep (usually the result of exhaustion from the previous night’s restless sleep).  Even when I sleep relatively well, I still get up an average of 3 times or more to pee, and it’s difficult to fall asleep because I’m so big and uncomfortable (and usually hot)!  Some nights are better than others though!
Best moment this week: My best moment was waking up this morning and knowing it would be my last day in the office at work.  Yes, I may end up working a little from home the rest of this week, but I can do it in cozy clothes and take daytime naps!  Yay!
Miss anything? Cold weather, sleeping comfortably, and not being so big and slow!
Movement: Ok, so I had a big revelation this week thanks to Justin.  We were sitting on the couch and the baby starting doing this thing that she does pretty regularly for the past few months.  I told Justin to feel my belly.  I explained that what I was feeling was likely one of two things – either something was close enough to the surface of my belly that I could feel it pulsating (the cord? her heart?), or she was kicking me very softly but very rhythmically for an extended period of time.  So he felt for about a minute, and then turned to me and asked, “Isn’t that just baby hiccups?”  Oh my goodness!  Of course!  Needless to say, I felt pretty ridiculous for not putting this together on my own, but at the same time, I am just so thankful to now be aware that I can feel our little baby’s hiccups and know what it is!  Now every time it happens, it is all the more special and new to me, and it has strengthened the bond that I feel with her.  So thanks to the daddy for being so damn smart!
Food Cravings: The same as last week – especially green juice (especially this one brand from Whole Foods in the picture below), bananas with peanut butter and honey, applesauce with cinnamon, and anything icy and cold.
On a side note, my work colleagues gave me all of my favorite snacks – including bananas, peanut butter, and cinnamon applesauce (all organic!), along with a very sweet card, balloons and decorations, and delicious Italian food takeout for lunch on my last day!  So sweet.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Basically just meat fat – it still seriously grosses me out.  And sometimes I have a hard time with certain meat in general.  I wish all meat everywhere was organic.  But I have had a few friends tell me that they had a love-hate relationship with meat or certain types of meat during pregnancy, so I guess it's not that unusual.
Labor signs: Nope.
Symptoms: The usual – frequent urination and mild heartburn.  I have also been feeling more tired and generally sore this week.  My belly is pretty sore and it’s hard to get comfortable even when I’m sitting or lying down.  My body is really starting to feel the weight of carrying around this heavy belly!
Belly button in or out? Out, and slightly puffier in the middle than last week.
Wedding rings on or off? Still keeping them off just to be safe since the warm weather here is making my hands a little swollen by the end of the day.
Mood: I’m feeling excited about maternity leave, and even more excited that we are getting so close to meeting our baby girl!  I have a little anxiety about labor and delivery, and of course, I worry about wanting to make sure that everything is alright with our baby – that she has ten fingers and ten toes, and all that good stuff.  I need to lay my eyes on her and know that she is here and safe in our arms.  And I can’t wait!
Looking forward to: I am really looking forward to starting my maternity leave at the end of the day today! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
